Madalena's pirate map

Title: Survey

Description: In this one-week project, you will be asked to observe, gather and document information from the local area around EBAC. In a survey of the local area, you will produce a range of observational drawings and recordings, a series of layouts and test pieces from this information, and finally, you will produce a large scale visual interpretation - a ‘map’ (100 x 150cm).

Concept: The idea of making a map forced my mind into the idea of a treasure pirate map. They're one of the most iconic types of maps and could do well as a survey. I only had to decide what should map with my red X's. In answer to that, I thought I'd be pretty straight forward: the red X's on the treasure map mark the position of red X's I found in Vila Madalena. They sure are no treausres, so I guess my map would be quite a bummer for any pirate, but it does well as a survey. I found red X's in somewhat random places, like Ta(x)i signs and grafitti's, then drew them on my sketchbook and just transferred the positions into my final outcome.
